Drago Profaca

Obituary of Drago Profaca

Drago Profaca, 88, of Millstone, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. He was born and raised in Croatia. After a short time in Italy, he moved to the United States in 1959. He started and raised his family in Brooklyn before settling in Millstone. Drago worked as a tailor and owned and operated his own business with his beloved wife. He loved the beach and Coney Island, where he would spend his weekends. Drago enjoyed Croatian and Italian music and dancing in the kitchen with his wife. He was the best driving teacher to his kids and grandkids, taught everyone how to swim, and always wanted to help others. Drago could be found digging in the vegetable garden, enjoying a cup of coffee, and making (and drinking) his homemade “red water” wine. He was dedicated to his family and was loved by all who knew him. His friends and family referred to him as “Srce”, which is the Croatian word for heart.

Drago was predeceased by his wife, Anna Maria Profaca; his brother, Viktor Profaca; his sister, Sanka Pajkin; brother-in-law, Vlado Vuksan; and his parents. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra LaRosa and her partner, Charles Soldano of Jackson, and Jackie Profaca and her partner, Charles Walters of Millstone; sons-in-law, Frank LaRosa of Jackson, and Joseph Stefano of Jackson; 4 grandchildren, Christopher LaRosa, Alexandra LaRosa, Katherine LaRosa, and Nicolas Stefano; sisters, Rina Vuksan, and Rada Bozicev and her husband, Albert; brothers, Slavko Profaca and his wife, Vinka and Rikard Profaca  and his wife, Nena; and his loyal dogs, Rolo and Lola.
